Athlete Behavior Expectations

All student-athletes are expected to demonstrate respect, effort, and good sportsmanship at all times. Our core behavior guidelines include:

  • Respect Coaches, Teammates, and Opponents
Treat others how you want to be treated. Disrespectful behavior, including teasing or put-downs, will not be tolerated.

  • Give Full Effort
Cross Country is a mental and physical sport. Show up with a positive attitude and be ready to push yourself.

  • Follow Directions
Athletes must listen during warm-ups, drills, and meets to ensure everyone stays safe and organized.

  • Be On Time
Arriving late disrupts the flow of practice and may limit participation that day.

  • Take Responsibility
Come prepared with appropriate gear, water, and your jersey on meet days. Take care of your uniform throughout the season.

  • Support Each Other
Cheer for your teammates. Celebrate effort, not just wins. Encourage newer runners and help create a positive team atmosphere.

💡 Note: Repeated violations of these expectations may result in limited participation in practices or meets, or removal from the team.

🌦️ Weather Policy

The safety of our athletes is our top priority. Our policy for inclement weather is as follows:

  • Rain: Practice will continue in light rain unless field conditions are unsafe or the district closes the facility. If practice is canceled due to heavy rain or lightning, parents will be notified via the team communication app at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled practice time. We aim for notifying parents at noon if will have practice or not.

  • Excessive Heat: If the temperature exceeds 90°F, practice duration may be shortened, or a modified indoor workout may be implemented. Athletes will be encouraged to drink water frequently and rest as needed.

  • Air Quality: We monitor AQI levels. If AQI is above 100, outdoor practice will be modified or canceled.

  • Cancellations: All notifications will be posted through the team snap, so please make sure your notifications are turned on.
