Hey there, my name is Coach Sophia! My love for volleyball started early— I first picked up the ball in 6th grade for fun, and ended up being the middle blocker on the team by 7th grade. I continued to be a middle blocker through my high school years, and eventually my senior year, my team made it to CIFs. Those years on the court taught me not just how to serve or spike, but how to build teamwork, develop grit, and celebrate the joys of steady progress.Now, as a coach, I’m all about creating that same energy and growth for my players. Whether we’re mastering fundamentals, sharpening competitive instincts, or building confidence, I’m dedicated to coaching with attention, positivity, and a whole lot of heart. I can’t wait to see everyone this season!

Tryout information
Date: August 31st
Time: 4:15pm - 5:45pm
Location: Valley Middle School Gymnasium
What you need to wear:
Athletic shirt/shorts/shoes
Volleyball Kneepads
Tryout Structure:
There will be a table at the front of gym with a check in sheet please check in by signing your name. You will see that next to your name your assigned to a Pennie Color and Number. You will grab that Pennie that matches the color and number on the check in sheet. This is how coaches will identify you during tryouts.
There will be another tryout happening before yours (JV) if you get to the gym early wait on the bleachers for their tryout to finish and then the coaches will call you over to the Center to start your tryout.
You must register on this website by filling out the tryout form to come to tryouts. Please look at the season schedule and cost of season before coming to tryouts.
This is a competitive team. Playing time is not promised. It will be distributed based on talent, attendance, effort.
You will receive an email day after tryouts if you make the team (September 1st). Once you make the team you will be sent a link to pay for the season ($335 for Varsity/JV) You need to pay this before first day of practice (Sept 8th) or your roster spot will be given away to the next player.
Roster Size: We take 12 people on a team
Email will be sent out with Rosters/Practice/Game Schedule as well as payment link.

Practice Schedule Sept 8th - 23rd
Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays - 2:45pm - 3:45pm
(even though Thursday is early release will still practice at 2:45pm because boys’ volleyball will have first practice of that day from 1:45pm - 2:45pm)
Practice Schedule Sept 24th - October 15th
Monday and Wednesday: 2:45–3:45 PM
Tuesdays and Thursdays will have Games at 4pm.
Practice Schedule October 19th - October 23rd
If you are a top 4 teams in league standings, you will move on to playoffs. If not, last day will be October 15th.
Practice October 19th 2:45pm - 3:45pm
You’ll play in First round of playoffs on Oct 20th if you win that you’ll have practice on Oct 21st 2:45pm - 3:45pm and Championship game on Oct 22nd

Varsity will play in a Tournament Sep 19th at Bressi Boys & Girls Club/ Village Boys & Girls Club Gym. Tournament schedule will be out after tryouts.
League Games start September 21st - October 15th and will be every Tuesday and Thursday at 4pm

If your team did not make playoffs that’s the end of the season.
